Acts Activities & Crafts (Lesson #2)
Younger Children – House to House
Materials needed:
- Memory verse printed on mailing labels (we used Avery
5160) - Assorted paper gift bags, colored or white
- Assorted colored paper or cardstock
- Ruler
- Assorted crayons, markers
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
Instructions:
- Give each child a paper bag and memory verse label.
- Stick the memory verse onto the paper bag and write their
name on the bag. We layered the memory verse onto two
pieces of cardstock. - Decorate the paper bag, using cardstock, crayons and
markers, making doors, windows, flowers, etc to depict a
house or apartment. - Remind the children that there are many kinds of houses:
small cottages, mansions, apartments, modern style,
traditional, etc. - Open the paper bag, so that the bottom sits flat on the
table. - Display the houses at each table to form a community. See
how easy it is to go from house to house, speaking,
visiting, caring, sharing food with gladness.
Older Children – Magnetic Popsicle Stick Houses
Materials Needed:
- Memory verse printed onto sheets of mailing labels (we
used Avery 5160 labels) - Colored cardstock cut into 4.5”x4.5” pieces
- Standard-sized wooden craft sticks 10 per child (popsicle
sticks) - Wood glue
- Small paper plate for glue
- Q-tips for spreading glue
- Self-adhesive magnets
- Self-adhesive foam alphabet stickers (Hobby Lobby,
Michaels, Walmart)
Instructions: - Give each child a piece of cardstock, a magnet, and 10
popsicle sticks. - Stick magnet onto middle of backside of cardstock.
- Glue popsicle sticks onto front side of cardstock.
- Give each child a Memory Verse label and stick it onto
cardstock. - Decorate popsicle sticks with alphabet foam stickers.
- Do not move the popsicle sticks until glue has completely
dried.
