Notes to Serving Ones Regarding Talking Points:
- Talking points progress from simple to more complex. To afford the maximum enjoyment, they are to be shared with the children in a story like manner, not merely read aloud.
- Talking points should be shared one or two points at a time. Then sing a song or two! Then share a little bit more! Then sing a little more! Remember, children do not have the capacity for a long sharing.
- Remember singing will impart more than our sharing!
Talking Points:
Younger Children:
- We are living on earth. It is a perfect place for people to live.
- We have the sun to keep us warm.
- We have the moon to light up the night.
- We have days so we can play, and nights so we can rest.
- We have seasons so that we can enjoy different kinds of weather.
- God thought of everything we need.
Older Children:
- In the whole universe, among all the stars and planets, the earth is the perfect environment for man.
- If the earth were a little closer to the sun, no one would survive the heat. If it were slightly further away, it would be too cold.
- The earth is tilted slightly and moves around the sun. The moon moves around the earth. This gives us days, nights and seasons. How perfect!
In addition, the moon is positioned exactly the right distance from the earth. - The force of the moon’s gravity keeps the oceans exactly in the right place.
- Finally, the earth is surrounded by layers of gasses called the atmosphere. These are like a protective layer that give man air to breathe and keep dangerous things from the universe from coming in.
- The creation of the earth shows God’s detailed care for man.
