Acts Lesson #2
Topic: The Gathering God and the Meeting Believers
Memory Verse: Acts 2:2 And suddenly there was a sound out of heaven, as of a rushing violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Let the children pick a song from a previous meeting, if you are finished singing the assigned songs.
Talking Points:
- To find out what the very first saints in the very first church life in history were like, people can read the book of Acts. The very first thing the believers in the earliest church life in history did immediately after Jesus resurrected was to have a meeting. The very first day of His resurrection, the first meeting happened.
- Jesus asked his disciples to go speak to people, but first to meet together, to wait and to pray for the promise from the Father. There were 120 men and women. (How many people are in this room?) They prayed and they waited together. After ten days a rushing wind came and the Holy Spirit was poured out on them while they were meeting together. This was the promise from the
Father that they were waiting for and this was the exciting beginning of the church on the earth. - Immediately they went and spoke to others. Three thousand more believers were added. The very first thing they did was have meetings. They dropped their original plans, they cooked for others, they cared for others, and spoke to others about what they had seen and heard. They met together in their homes and ate their food together. They went from house to house sharing their food with gladness.
- When you go places there will be people you do not know. In this meeting there are many people you do not know. What is the first thing you should do? You should say hello to the people you don’t know!
- God gathers His people together. Christians are not meant to be alone. Throughout history, those who believe in the Lord love to meet together! Let’s say hello to whoever is next to you. Tell them your name. Listen to them tell you their name.
