Notes to Serving Ones Regarding Talking Points:
1. Talking points progress from simple to more complex. To afford the maximum enjoyment, they are to be shared with the children in a story like manner, not merely read aloud.
2. Talking points should be shared two or three points at a time. Then sing a song or two! Then share a little bit more! Then sing a little more! Remember, children do not have the capacity for a long sharing.
3. Remember singing will impart more than our sharing!
Talking Points:
1. In every aspect of his life, David was prepared to be king.
2. God planned for David to be the youngest in his family, as a result, David was humble.
3. David was not given a high job, but the job of shepherding, which was a lowly job. By being a shepherd, David learned to take care of others. He learned responsibility.
4. David was a person who sang a lot. Singing made him strong. He may have been singing and talking to God while he was shepherding the sheep. He was a person who enjoyed the Lord’s word. The Bible contains David’s songs, his speaking to the Lord, and his words about how much he loved the Lord’s Word.
5. As a shepherd, David realized that God is the real shepherd who takes care of His people, who are like sheep.
6. The training and experiences we have when we are young may be part of God’s preparation for us to be useful to Him later.
