Acts – Lesson #3

Acts Lesson #3

Topic: The speaking God and the multilingual believers
Memory Verse: Acts 1:8 …you shall be My witnesses… unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Let the children pick a song from a previous meeting, if you are finished singing the assigned songs.

Talking Points:

  1. Our God is a speaking God. He loves to speak to people. By a person’s speaking, you get to know them. God wants people to know Him, so He speaks. After Jesus resurrected, He sent the very first believers to speak to everyone and announce the good news of the gospel.
  2. The first thing new believers do is speak! The early believers were not quiet, sad, or religious people. When they were meeting together and the Holy Spirit filled them, they were excited! The waiting was over! It was now time to go and speak! The first thing new believers want to do is tell someone about God.
  3. Remarkably, they were able to speak to people in many languages. Many of the Jews visiting from other countries for the Pentecost feast spoke in other languages. They were able to understand when the believers announced that Jesus had resurrected from the dead. These Jews were among the first believers! God’s speaking is not for a select group of special people, but for everyone! God speaks to everyone in every language because He loves for people to hear His word. How many here speak different languages?
  4. Peter and John spoke to everyone everywhere about the Lord. This was how the church spread the good news of the gospel to the whole world. They encountered troubles designed to stop them from speaking about the Lord. But the more trouble they had, the more they spoke! One of the biggest persecutors was a zealous Jew named Saul. He captured people who were calling on the Lord and speaking for the Lord. He delivered them to prison.
  5. In the next meeting we will find out what happened to Saul!
