Notes to Serving Ones Regarding Talking Points:
1. Talking points progress from simple to more complex. To afford the maximum enjoyment, they are to be shared with the children in a story like manner, not merely read aloud.
2. Talking points should be shared two or three points at a time. Then sing a song or two! Then share a little bit more! Then sing a little more! Remember, children do not have the capacity for a long sharing.
3. Remember singing will impart more than our sharing!

Talking Points:
1. For fifteen years after David was anointed king, David was growing up and being trained.

2. During that time, Saul was still the king. He was jealous of David, and gave David a lot of trouble.

3. God allowed David to have difficulties to prepare him to be a great king. This was a kind of testing for David.

4. At the same time, God gave David a good friend who encouraged him and protected him.

5. Although Saul hated David, his own son Jonathan, was not jealous of David. Jonathan loved David and gave him the things he needed.

6. David promised Jonathan that he would always take care of him and his family. After he became king, he found Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth and cared for him. Mephibosheth was not able to walk. David brought him to the palace and fed him at the king’s table. He kept his promise to Jonathan years after Jonathan had already died.
