Notes to Serving Ones Regarding Talking Points:
1. Talking points progress from simple to more complex. To afford the maximum enjoyment, they are to be shared with the children in a story like manner, not merely read aloud.
2. Talking points should be shared two or three points at a time. Then sing a song or two! Then share a little bit more! Then sing a little more! Remember, children do not have the capacity for a long sharing.
3. Remember singing will impart more than our sharing!

Talking Points:
1.David was chosen by God to be king, but Saul continued to be concerned about himself. He built a memorial for himself, and worried that the people preferred David over him.

2. Saul made plans to kill David. But God used Saul’s children to warn David and protect him.

3. David was strong person. He fought with a bear and a lion. He took on Goliath. Yet, when he was mistreated by Saul, he did not attack Saul.

4. David fled from Saul and did not seek revenge or try to overthrow him. He cried out to God and told God all his troubles.

5. Although Saul mistreated David, David would not touch him. He had several opportunities to kill Saul, but he would not. He knew that Saul was still the king, and he honored him even though he knew Saul’s failures.

6. When the time was right, God arranged for David to become king. He did not need to overthrow Saul himself. God eventually made everything right.

7. Many times, God’s chosen ones are in situations that are not easy. Despite injustice, God is still in control. Instead of fighting against others, being angry or seeking revenge, we should honor God and honor others.
