Notes to Serving Ones Regarding Talking Points:

  1. Talking points progress from simple to more complex. To afford the maximum enjoyment, they are to be shared with the children in a story like manner, not merely read aloud.
  2. Talking points should be shared two or three points at a time. Then sing a song or two! Then share a little bit more! Then sing a little more! Remember, children do not have the capacity for a long sharing.
  3. Remember singing will impart more than our sharing!

Approved Talking Points:

  1. The Bible has two parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament
  2. The Old Testament has many interesting stories about many different people.
  3. The stories in the Bible tell us a lot about God and about people.
  4. The Old Testament contains songs and poems about God and God’s people.
  5. The New Testament contains stories about Jesus. Jesus is the most important person that the Bible talks about.
  6. The New Testament tells about the people who were with Jesus and what they did.
  7. The Bible contains the truth about God, about man, and even about the whole universe.
  8. It tells the truth about the things in the past, in the present and in the future.
  9. The Old Testament tells us many stories about many different people.
  10. By reading the stories about these people, we find out all about God, and about how He takes care of people.
  11. Some of the important people in the Old Testament include the eight great men in the book of Genesis.
  12. The people in the Old Testament lived a very long time ago, but their stories were written down in the Bible for us. The New Testament mainly tells us about Jesus.
  13. The people in the New Testament are mainly the people who were with Jesus. They went places with Him and talked to Him. By reading about them, we find out a lot about Jesus.
  14. The New Testament also tells us about the first ones who loved the Lord Jesus. They traveled and told others about the Lord Jesus. We can read about their trips in the New Testament.
  15. The whole Bible is really about Jesus. He is the center of the Bible and the main subject of the Bible.
  16. The Old Testament gives us a detailed history about how Jesus came to be born, who his great, great grand parents were, etc.
  17. The Old Testament foretells many things about Jesus, such as how he would be born, how he would live and how he would die.
  18. The Old Testament also contains many stories and many types and symbols so that we can know Jesus very well. For example, Joseph was a person who ruled over Egypt and supplied food to the whole earth. Joseph is an example, but Jesus is the one who really rules over everything and gives people what they need.
  19. The New Testament tells us about the life of Jesus from four different points of view. This gives us a very complete picture of Jesus. The New Testament also tells us about the followers of Jesus, his believers.

Approved Activities for Older and Younger Children:

  1. On a board or poster, list all the names of people in the Bible that the children know. Figure out who is in the Old Testament.
  2. Ask the children what Bible stories they know, and add the main characters to the list.
  3. Learn the 8 great men.
  4. Write down the names of the twelve disciples. These are the ones who were with Jesus. See if the children know of any other characters in the New Testament.
