The Bible - Activities & Crafts (Lesson #6)

Memory Verse: Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers and the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

Younger & Older Children – Memory Verse Bookmarks
*ATTENTION: SOME PREPARATION NEEDED PRIOR TO CONFERENCE SESSION

Materials needed:

  • ALL 6 Memory Verses printed on Avery 5160 or 8160 Mailing Labels prior to session*
  • Assorted cardstock cut into 1 ½” x 3 ½” rectangles 7 per child, cut prior to session*
  • Assorted colored cardstock cut to 2”x6” rectangles, 6 per child, cut prior to session*
  • Assorted colored cardstock cut to 5 ½”x6 ½” for bookmark holder
  • Template for bookmark holder (click here to print)
  • Assorted colorful thin-width fabric ribbons cut into 6” lengths, 6 per child
  • 24” length of yarn or twine, one per child
  • Assorted pony beads
  • Hole punch
  • Glue or double-sided tape, which provides a cleaner finish
  • Pen, crayons, or markers

Instructions:

  • Hand each child 7 smaller pieces of cardstock, one of each of the 6 Memory Verses labels, have them stick a label onto each of the 6 pieces of cardstock. Write their name neatly on the 7th piece of cardstock.
  • Hand out 6 larger pieces of cardstock. Using glue or double-sided tape, affix the smaller cardstock onto the larger cardstock, allowing room at one end for a hole punch. There should be 6 bookmarks.
  • Punch one hole at the top of each bookmark. Give them 6 pieces of string or ribbon and loop it through each bookmark. Set aside.
  • Trace template, cut out, fold, and punch holes along the edge as marked on template.
  • Thread yarn or twine through the holes along the edge to secure the bookmark holder, sliding 2-3 pony beads onto the ends of the yarn and tying knots at the ends to secure. Tie into a bow.
  • Use glue or double-sided tape to affix the child’s name cardstock to the front of the bookmark holder.
  • Insert all 6 bookmarks into the holder.
