Acts Lesson #4

Topic: The Active God and the Dynamic, Cooperating Believers
Memory Verse: Acts 9:15 But the Lord said to him, Go, for this man is a chosen vessel to Me, to bear My name before both the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;

Let the children pick a song from a previous meeting, if you are finished singing the assigned songs.

Talking Points:

  1. God changes people. When people hear the word of God, amazing things happen. God heals people, forgives people and changes their thinking completely. God is always acting and working and doing things even behind the scenes.
  2. The first believers were not timid or scared. They were courageous and brave. They were traveling, speaking, meeting, singing and praising. They were cooperating with God.
  3. One of the most amazing stories that shows how God changes people is the story of Paul. Paul (whose name was Saul originally), was busy finding Christians and having them arrested. He was famous for persecuting the believers.
  4. One day, the Lord Jesus appeared to Paul and spoke to him. This changed Paul’s life completely. A brother named Ananias was sent by God to speak to Paul. Ananias knew what kind of person Paul had been in the past. But he cooperated with God and went to speak to Paul anyway.
  5. Jesus appeared to Saul (Paul) as he was journeying. The bright light blinded Saul (Paul). Jesus told him to go see Ananias (actually he was told to wait!). Through Ananias and others, he joined together with the same believers he had been trying to arrest. He became a believer who spoke for the Lord instead of against Him. He spent the rest of his life speaking for God to
    everyone.
  6. The book of Acts is full of stories of people who were changed by God. It is also full of stories of believers who cooperated with God so that people could be changed. In the next meeting we will meet Cornelius.
