Notes to Serving Ones Regarding Talking Points:
1. Talking points progress from simple to more complex. To afford the maximum enjoyment, they are to be shared with the children in a story like manner, not merely read aloud.
2. Talking points should be shared one or two points at a time. Then sing a song or two! Then share a little bit more! Then sing a little more! Remember, children do not have the capacity for a long sharing.
3. Remember singing will impart more than our sharing!
Talking Points:
1. Israel wanted a king to rule over them. God allowed them to have Saul.
2. Saul was tall and handsome, but his heart was for himself and his own kingdom. Saul did not honor God, but used all that God gave him to develop his own kingdom.
3. While Saul was misusing the power that God gave him, God was secretly preparing the next king.
4. God chose David to be the next king. He sent Samuel to anoint him as king.
5. When Samuel came to see Jesse, Jesse brought out his older sons. He thought David was too young to be chosen. But David was the one who was chosen and prepared by God.
6. David was anointed in the midst of his brothers. God began preparing David to be the king from the time he was a young man.
7. Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart.
